I feel really lucky to have joined some friends to do the King Alfred's Way with Wild Cycles.... what you want is to travel light, enjoy the scenery and finish it with a beer, great food and an amazing camping setup. To make things even better, John and Jonathan are two friendly and genuinely nice and interesting guys that will try their best to make everyone feel comfortable and enjoy the whole experience.
Absolutely recommend Wild Cycles, the route and this type of travelling by bike.
An epic and unforgettable weekend with Wild Cycles through the most breathtakingly beautiful countryside. (Who knew that there was such extraordinary scenery so close to home?) Am now desperate to plan the next one. (They) took such brilliant care of us and made so much effort to make our camp (which was fabulous) the best it could be...cannot wait for the next trip... THANK YOU WILD CYCLES !!!
This was a trip that far exceeded my expectations. Tough as advertised, challenging in every way, but worth every second. Wild Cycles has crafted a bespoke trip with so much care and attention that every detail is taken care of. All I had to think about was being on my bike and what time I had to get up, the rest was sorted. A challenge in the majesty of the great outdoors and some of Britain's finest scenery on an historic route combined to make this an unforgettable experience. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
The Ridgeway ride was truly breathtakingly beautiful, you cannot fault the scenery. Wil Cycles did a fantastic job of looking after us and provided us with everything we needed after a very long, hot day. ...very supportive and accommodating. I would highly recommend using his business.
A brilliant morning ride around the best bits of the North Chilterns. John kindly rearranged after a storm forced the initial date to be abandoned. Great scenery, friendly and competent guiding, good pacing and fabulous photos too. Highly recommended, next stop KAW trip.....
Absolutely fantastic half-day guided ride, felt like a micro-holiday getting fully immersed in the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside. John’s local knowledge was so helpful and meant we could cram a lot into just a morning’s ride. Good safety briefing, excellent support during the ride and a totally stress-free way to discover somewhere new to ride.
Just been on a second weekend ride with Wild Cycles. Perfect in every respect and will be coming back again and again! Superbly organised weekend...makes like so much easier with this form of weekend adventure. ..from the joining instructions through to the routes and organisation of tents and now infamous 'Braai' with some amazing local produce makes this a weekend to remember on so many counts.
Really well thought out ride routes covering a wide mix of terrain and elevation and you get see why the Chilterns is a great place to ride 'gravel'. ...everyone was always smiling and happy which really sums up the whole weekend. Really want to complete the Ridgeway challenge next.. ;o)
We have just completed the King Alfred's Way with Wild Cycles and it is a really tough ride.... A great and fun experience from start to finish. John & Jonathan were just brilliant....The morning briefings set us up for the day ahead and arriving after a long day in the saddle to a fully set up camp and a big smile, was a very welcome site, along with a BBQ/Pizza oven or a pub meal on our first day was superb. Ending the evenings sat around the camp fire chatting over an ice cold beer/coke was just perfect. Thoroughly recommend anyone to book a Wild Cycles event, look forward to them expanding the events and joining another Wild Cycles ride in the future.
At Hotchillee we've put on cycling events globally for 17 years, and worked with many people and companies along the way. Wild Cycles supported us with our first UK based camping adventure and delivered a spectacular experience for our riders, superb routes, great facilities, a flexible team, easy to work with and helpful to the last. Look forward to our next adventure already.
A very well organised tour with no detail overlooked. The tents are spacious with comfy camp beds, breakfast and evening meals were tasty and ample. It was my first stint of off road cycling and the route had lots of interest including great open views, pine woods, downs, towns, villages and ancient monuments. Thanks Wild Cycles for a great and memorable experience.
....I hired a Sonder Frontier (and) was even good enough to let me try the bike the weekend before. The trip was fabulous - the riding and scenery lived up to expectations, and the service... went beyond. It was lovely to arrive in a well set up camp with cold drinks and everything ready.... The food was excellent ... It was also really reassuring to have John on the phone for mechanicals (one of our gang bent a wheel)...He was also there at the end to make sure we all got in safely. I highly recommend this approach to KAW. You get more of the outdoor experience than in hotels but have a comfortable bed and great food guaranteed. We also got to meet a lovely group of people....
King Alfred’s Way with Wild Cycles was an incredibly great experience. The bike rental was high quality and the campsite support was very comfortable and efficient, but the real differentiator for me with Wild Cycles was their passion for off-road cycling and expertise. I did the ride with three friends...seasoned road cyclists, but I had never done any real off-road cycling before. Jon’s coaching, insights and support got me through in good shape. This was manifested in such things as a pre-ride briefing each day to go over the route and fine-tuning the bikes for the day ahead. I felt that the whole experience was professionally run and the focus on health and safety helped me to feel comfortable on the ride. Thank you Wild Cycles!
