Wholesome adventures in 2023

Creating and sharing wild and wonderful bicycling experiences is our reason for being and this season was full of dem.

In 2023 we increasingly found that although riding-in-beautiful-places remains the core component and key enabler - there is way more magic which happens off the bike: around the dinner table enjoying delicious food and brews, chilling by the campfire and chatting with friends - old and new.

This has been the inspiration for our wild wholesome experiences - and will be for many more to come...

Wild Cycles' mission is to bring more of these wild and exceptional outdoor experiences to a wider and diverse audience. Our signature approach is focused on impact, the finer details and experiences set in beautiful places that make for unforgettable adventures and special moments.

Stunning routes, delicious, wholesome food and brews, fireside vibes, big & beautiful landscapes, a lovely bunch of people - sharing stories of a long, sometimes challenging day out on the trails. That's it.

Thanks to all of you who have come along for the ride. We've had an absolute blast - out on the trails, stunning scenery and wild landscapes - and above all meeting ya'all. You - the amazing adventurous people - are the ones who've made it super special for everyone!

Here is a quick round-up of '23

In May we kicked off a new series Intro to gravel riding in collaboration with Much Better Adventures. Based on London's doorstep - the 2 day gravel camp covers basics of off-roading combined with the essentials: cool camping vibes, beautiful routes, stunning scenery and delicious, wholesome home-cooked food!

Mason South Downs Way 2 day bike-pack May.

Starting in Winchester at the South Downs Social Cafe c. 70 riders rolled out onto the fabulous South Downs National Trail. Overnighting about halfway at the fab Mason Cycles on Applesham Farm, Sussex - riders were treated to a delicious home-cooked dinner, groovy folk vibes and in the morning - a wholesome breakfast - before heading out to complete the route on the cliffs at Beachy Head above Eastbourne.

Rab Wild Wales June.

Also known as "SMILES NOT MILES" as “...we’ve stopped talking about rides in km's as sometimes it can take all day just to ride 40kms here....you can ride almost entirely off-road for days on end” Hamish Wilson - Farmer, adventurer, camel-herder.

From the moment you arrive at Wild Wales, you know this is gonna be a special kinda weekend. 2 days of chilling and chatting with a lovely bunch of people with a shared passion for enjoying and exploring the wild mountain landscape in a very special setting. Great food, spectacular, lung-busting climbs....Rab Wild Wales has it all! Not to mention inspiring fireside chats with Rupert Barry from Rab Equipment and Kathy Moore from Komoot.

King Alfred's Way May, July, September.

A 4-day circular epic covers 220 miles through King Alfred The Great's Anglo-Saxon Kingdom. Crammed with spectacular and ever-changing landscapes, some of the world's most spectacular prehistoric monuments - starts and finishes in Winchester and takes in Wiltshire, Wessex and Surrey countryside as well as the South Downs' Way and England’s oldest Roman road, The Ridgeway.

Wholesome Wild Wales September.

Base camp at back-to-basics Blaenau camping in the shadow of the Brecon Mountains is like no other. This part of the world is characterised by dreamy glacial lakes such as Llyn y Fan Fach, formed during the last Ice Age - spectacular glacial cirques, corries or cwms frame crystal lakes in a unique and spectacular setting.

Our aim is to make riding in beautiful places more accessible to a wider and diverse audience. To encourage and help people to give-it-a-go - sometimes stepping way out of the comfort of their usual comfort zone - and experiencing something and some place new. This has been possible and in no small measure thanks to the generous support and contributions of our fab sponsors:
